DANIEL H. KOSOY, MD |
Prior to his career in venture capital, Dr Kosoy trained as a physician and surgeon, obtaining an MD in 1994 and then specializing in organ transplant surgery. He has worked with transplant teams at several hospitals in Canada and California. He has been in Medicine for over eighteen years and still practices on a limited basis, holding a California medical license and appointments at two major hospitals and a university. He is a Board Certified surgeon in both the US and Canada. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Prior to his medical and surgical training, from 1988-1990, Dr. Kosoy worked as a management consultant for the life sciences consulting division of Generics, where he worked with large pharmaceuticals and start-up biotechnology companies, specializing in medical diagnostics, drug delivery and genetic engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Philosophy with studies in Molecular Biology from Yale University, and his Medical Doctor degree from McGill University. |
Dr. Kosoy, 46 yrs, joined Athenian in 2000 as a partner of the firm, following having worked with the firm as a senior biomedical venture consultant during 1999-2000. He has over 10 years of experience in the venture capital industry focusing on the Life Sciences, including biotechnology, bio and specialty pharmaceuticals, medical devices, device-drug combination products and diagnostics. He has a further 11 years of industry experience in life sciences and biotechnology. Dr. Kosoy began working professionally with Mr. Elderkin in 1989 when they worked together as management consultants at the Generics Group in the U.K.
