From 1989 until founding Athenian, he was co-head of Generics Asset Management (GAM), the London-based venture capital arm of Generics Group, PLC Generics, a technology consulting organization located in Cambridge, UK. At GAM, he shared responsibility for that venture fund's management and its investment management activities, which covered a range of technologies and industries, including electronic communications and medical devices. In his early period with Generics, he was a management consultant. From 1983 to 1987, Mr. Elderkin was with Texas Instruments in Attleboro, Massachusetts where he worked as a manufacturing engineer and capital investment manager. In 1987, he received the annual Texas Instruments Exceptional Performance Award (one of only two recipients that year from among 6,000 employees in his division) for his service to the company. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with international studies at London Business School. |
